Renegade Folk in Metro Magazine

June 2008 Issue
Renegade for the Common Folk
by Pamela Ayson

The need for affordable, exquisite shoes has been finally recognized. Renegade Folk, an internet shopping site, spearheaded by sisters Tina, Regina and Bea Sambalido and friend Bibai Gaisano is quickly making a name for itself online. Buyers are responding to products such as platform pumps, gladiator stilettos and "soft" Across the Universe ankle boots and want more.

Ranging from P2,000 to P3,000 a pair, Renegade Folk shoes are the team's answer to the call for unique fashion-forward footwear that remains affordable. Equally distinct and unique bags are also available for the bag crazy.

Although the site is Regina's brainchild, the business is definitely a team effort. It's not easy to run a business with friends, much more with sisters, but the Sambalidos and Gaisano are convinced that this is the best direction to go. "More than anything we're all friends and we get along", shared Gaisano. Because of Regina's eye for fashion, Bea's artistic intuition, Bibai's skills in management, and Tina's financial smarts, it is a team with a brand that is destined to make it.

Their style mix is an interesting blend of products for anyone who dares to be different and even slightly rebellious. The presence of Renegade Folk in popular bazaars and a retail store with their own original designs is in the works, but until then, indulging inexpensively is just a click away.
